Special Gifts Theatre has a special place in my heart. I started with this organization many years ago (never mind how long) when I was a sophomore in high school. I was a mentor with a special needs kid named Brian in the production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Years later when I was looking for volunteer opportunities, I got in contact with Special Gifts Theatre again. That year they were opening two new locations in Palatine and Chicago, with Winnetka as their original location. I started as a volunteer classroom aide at Palatine. I am now a Production Assistant at the musical theater program in Palatine and Winnetka on Tuesdays and a Classroom Aide at the musical theater program in Winnetka on Wednesdays where the casts will be performing Aladdin Jr and Mary Poppins Jr. This is truly an influential organization. The positivity and enthusiasm of everyone that works there is amazing to me a part of. I had been a part of 10 productions including Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, Shrek, Annie, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Madagascar and Beauty and the Beast. Please help me in raising money for this amazing organization that has changed the lives of so many people including mine.
